Access Control for Estates and Residential Complexes

Guidance only. Verify any statutory or insurer requirement against current official South African sources. CapeCore does not publish unverified legal claims.

Two flows: residents and visitors

Residents want a fast tag or remote. Visitors need a process that the guard or the app can finish without a queue into the road. Mixing both on one keypad is how tailgating starts.

Vehicle and pedestrian are different doors

A sliding gate with a loop detector is not a pedestrian solution. Give walkers a separate gate with a reader, or they will slip through the vehicle opening. CCTV should see both.

Who administers tags

Trustees or an estate manager must be able to add and remove residents. A system that only the original installer can enrol is a future problem. Keep a written process for tenants who move out.

CapeCore works from the entrance outward

Gate motors, fencing, CCTV and credentials are specified together for complexes. Call 021 755 1648 for a site assessment from Parow Industrial.
