What an intercom is for

An intercom lets someone inside see or hear a visitor and release a lock or a gate. Homes use a gate station and an indoor monitor or a phone app. Buildings use a lobby panel with call buttons or a directory. The release should trigger the actual lock or motor, not a hopeful relay on the wrong strike.

Video vs audio

Video helps you decide who is at a dark gate. It also needs lighting at the panel. A camera in the intercom is not a substitute for a dedicated CCTV view of the whole opening.

Multi-tenant buildings

Each flat needs a reliable call path. Cheap wireless kits drop in load-shedding and thick walls. Wired backbone with a documented power supply is still the professional default.

Integrate the opening

CapeCore ties intercoms to gate motors, maglocks and, where useful, CCTV. A consumer doorbell stuck on a plaster pillar is not a gate entry system.
