Office Access Control: Doors, Lifts and After-Hours Rules

Guidance only. Verify any statutory or insurer requirement against current official South African sources. CapeCore does not publish unverified legal claims.

Zone the building

Public lobby, tenant floor, server room and basement parking should not share one credential group. After-hours rules belong in software, not on a printed notice that nobody reads.

Reception still matters

A reader on the inner door plus a receptionist process for visitors beats a fingerprint tablet on the pavement. Couriers need a defined drop point that does not open the whole floor.

Lifts and stair cores

Lift destination control and stair-door readers only work if escape routes remain legal. Do not lock a stair that is a fire exit without a reviewed design.

One vendor for doors and cameras

CapeCore can align office access with CCTV so an after-hours door event has a picture. That is more useful than two unrelated contracts.
